Arusha

After 34 hours travelling with 3 flights from home to Arusha we were all a little bit tired and feeling a little precious.  Unfortunately David had a big chuck after breakfast and we were only 2 hours into a 14 hour flight and had not even left Australia.  Emirates staff were excellent in their care and professionalism and they even gave me a pair of pyjamas from 1st class that I wore for the rest of the trip to Arusha.  Even strolled around Dubai and Nairobi airports in my PJs.  Trendsetter!

Next morning we all had a remarkable recovery and we met our guide Marco who took us on a town tour and shouted us lunch.  Our accommodation in Arusha is cheap and cheerful where it appears many things don't quite work as expected.  The information folder in our room says we can't rely on the power and water supply. Guess we are spoilt living in Australia.

Now we are enjoying a beer in the outdoors cafe and the weather is lovely. We are looking at the dinner menu and a pepper steak with salad and chips is A$10.  Bargain.

  1. Hi D and M,

Looks like you are coming to terms with the African way of life at Arusha - all facilities are available, but they come with conditions. But they are delightful people with a relaxed attitude to things. Sorry to hear about your intestinal reaction before you even got to eat African food! - maybe your body was preparing itself. Enjoying your lovely photos that portray their lives so well.
    And enjoy your coming adventures.

    Geoff and Sue.

    1. Sorry to hear that you were not well on the flight.
Instead of giving you PJ"s from first class they should have moved you to first class and let you shower. woops forgot it's the 380's that have the on board shower hope you are having a great trip now
